We prefer to raise cattle the old-fashioned way even if it requires more time and effort. You can feel confident that you are getting the best Black Angus meat available when you choose Chrane Ranch.
We genuinely mean it when we declare that our beef is all-natural. No growth implants, steroids, antibiotics, hormones, or other synthetic supplements. Our cattle are always treated humanely, given lots of space to graze, and never kept in unhealthy feedlot-style conditions.
Our cattle spend their days in a low-stress setting, moving between pastures to ensure they always have access to fresh, green grass as well as plenty of shade and daily care. All of our calves have been raised on-site; none are imported or run through a feedlot.
These are standards you can trust. We wouldn't ask you to feed your family anything we wouldn't feed ourselves.
Marbled to Perfection
To enhance the marbling, softness, and general flavor of our steaks, our cattle are grass-fed and grain-finished. Our cattle will graze on winter wheat or coastal Bermuda according to the season before finishing on an all-natural grain feed that never contains any animal by-products or additives.
We are able to raise 100% grass-fed cattle upon request, but most customers discover the meat to be less tasty and tender due to the meat's leanness.
Our cattle are humanely harvested at a local meat processing plant that has undergone Texas inspection. Before processing, all of our beef is dry-aged and hangs in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment.
When beef is properly dry-aged, the meat is changed in a number of ways. Through this process, part of the moisture in the muscle is evaporated, resulting in a deeper flavor. Additionally, dry aging gives the beef's natural enzymes a chance to dissolve the fibrous fibers, relaxing the muscle proteins and naturally tenderizing the meat.
Your order is personally attended to by our butcher, who prepares it with traditional care. The cuts of meat are labeled and vacuum-packed.
We offer our beef for sale as whole or half beef, as well as single cuts of steaks, roasts, and ground beef at the Abilene Farmer's Market or by special order. All sales are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
You can choose the thickness of your steaks and roasts, as well as all the cutting and packing options when you purchase a whole or half beef. If you enjoy making soups and stocks, you can also get shank and bone marrow.
A whole or half beef is priced according to hanging weight. Although we attempt to keep our pricing competitive with those of your neighborhood grocery store, prices may change as the cattle market and feed prices fluctuate.
